Websites that earn their keep
We build fast, modern websites that look good, work properly on every device and are easy to keep up to date. Clear pricing before we start, with ongoing support available after launch.
What we mean by well built
Every website we build starts with the same essentials: speed, mobile usability, search visibility, accessibility, security and a plan for keeping it up to date.
Fast by default
Built lean, with images sized and compressed properly and no page builder bloat. Speed is a ranking factor and, more to the point, slow sites lose people before they read anything.
Right on a phone first
Most of your visitors are on a phone. The mobile layout is designed rather than inherited, and it is tested on real screen sizes instead of by dragging a browser window.
Findable
Built with search engines in mind from the start, with clear page structure, useful titles and descriptions, and the technical foundations needed to be found.
Accessible
Real colour contrast, keyboard navigation that works, visible focus, labelled forms and alt text. It is the law for some organisations, good practice for all, and it overlaps almost entirely with just being well built.
Secure and kept that way
Good security practices are built in as standard, with unnecessary third-party code kept to a minimum.
Maintained
Updates, backups and content changes under a care plan, so the site does not quietly rot for two years and then need replacing.
This page, measured on your device, right now
Not a claim and not a screenshot of a test we ran on a good day. These are the real figures for the page you are reading, taken by your own browser as it loaded.
Google treats the middle three as the measures that decide whether a site feels fast. A layout shift score of zero means nothing on this page moved while it loaded, which is the thing that makes a page feel cheap when it goes wrong.
Four stages, structure before decoration
We agree what the website needs to achieve and how the content should be organised before we focus on the visual design. That keeps the project centred on what your visitors actually need.
Understand
Who the site is for, what you want them to do, and what is stopping them now. Short, and it saves the most money of any stage.
Structure
Pages, navigation and what goes where, agreed before any visual design. Pages, navigation and content are agreed before visual design begins, so the finished site is easy to understand and use.
Design and build
The look, then the build, with a link you can open and click through as it comes together rather than a presentation at the end.
Launch and look after
Go live, redirects in place, analytics working, and a care plan so it stays current.
What we do differently, and what that costs you
Every web company claims to be fast, secure and good at SEO. Here is what we actually commit to, stated plainly enough that you could hold us to it.
No page builders
Lean sites with no unnecessary plugins, so there is less to break after an update and more control over speed and security. The honest cost: you cannot drag sections around yourself afterwards. Where you genuinely need to change something, we build you a way to change that thing.
Generated, not hand-maintained
Navigation, footer and contact details are defined once and generated into every page. That is the difference between a phone number change being one edit and being thirteen, and a thirteen-edit change is one somebody eventually does incompletely. We learned that on our own site.
You own it
Your domain stays in your name, your hosting stays in your name, and you get the files. Too many businesses find out their website is hostage to an agency relationship they wanted to end. Ours are not.
The care plan is not an upsell
Quoted with the build, because a website is not a thing you buy once: platforms change, certificates expire and dependencies get vulnerabilities. Priced monthly, stoppable any time, and if you stop it the site is still yours and still works.
What looking after it actually involves
Priced monthly, cancellable, and quoted alongside the build rather than introduced once you are committed.
Updates and patching
Platform, plugin and dependency updates applied and checked, so a known vulnerability does not sit open for months.
Backups that are tested
Taken off the server, and restored occasionally on purpose. An untested backup is a hope, not a plan.
Content changes
A sensible allowance of text, image and page changes each month, done by us, so a price change or a new service does not wait on your diary.
Uptime monitoring
We find out the site is down before your customers tell you.
Need a website that works harder?
Tell us what the site needs to do. We will review what you have now, or start from scratch, and come back with a fixed price.
